In the fourth quarter of 2021, the top 5 Film & Television apps on the Android platform in Kenya showcased diverse performance trends across downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at how each app fared during this period, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Netflix saw a significant spike in weekly downloads, peaking at around 287K in the first week of October, before experiencing a decline, stabilizing between 28K and 55K towards the end of the quarter. Active users hovered between 413K and 460K, showing a slight increase towards the end of December.

Showmax 1.0 experienced a notable drop in weekly downloads at the start of October but gradually recovered to reach approximately 24K by the third week of December. Active users saw a downward trend initially, dropping from 314K to around 174K by mid-October, but regained some traction, ending the quarter with around 225K active users.

K24 Plus had an impressive surge in downloads, particularly in the last two weeks of December, reaching peaks of approximately 150K and 147K, respectively. Active users mirrored this growth, starting from 60 in mid-October and skyrocketing to over 177K by the end of December.

Viusasa displayed a consistent but modest performance in weekly downloads, ranging between 6.6K and 23.9K throughout the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 59K and 79K during the same period.

StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football saw an increase in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 11K in late November. Active users also showed a steady trend, averaging around 14K to 19K throughout the quarter.
